Second Beach, Port St Johns, is home to Amapondo Backpackers, a gathering point for people that have taken the road less travelled.

The beach is just minutes away. There are also several restaurant, either at Amapondo or within easy walking distance. These are owned and run by locals and serve a wide variety of quality meals. All have views of sea, estuary, blowhole, lagoon, sunset and combinations of the above.

Take the Gap, jump the falls, visit the mud caves or hang out in our bar and bounce travel yarns. Chill out and recharge from our renewable dynamic energy sources that are other people also on a journey.

Volunteers that run a local school and work on a sustainable village project also live here. We’ve lost count of travellers that have visited Amapondo and changed their way of life and left the historical behind. They never look back. We don’t keep a count, as they’re not stats but part of out global family.

Wednesdays are poker nights with Texas hold'em all.
