The complex, with its surrounding ten hectares of well-wooded grounds, was first a convict station and afterwards the De Beers Company's "Final Recovery Plant", now donated to the SA Youth Hostels Association.
Amenities include a swimming pool, a children's playground, with swings and jungle gym, and a licensed restaurant. The lodge's 150 beds offer a variety of choices, from dormitories to doubles, en suites and self-catering units.

From the City Hall: Down Transvaal Road. At 4th traffic light turn right into Hull Street. The Lodge is 4kms on the left.
